The abutment — the connector joining the post to the replacement tooth.
The crown — the visible tooth, custom-made to match your natural teeth in shape, size, and color.
The materials are biocompatible, which means the post fuses with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. That fusion is what makes an implant stable enough to chew on, and what preserves the bone and facial structure that otherwise deteriorate after tooth loss.
Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most adults missing one or more teeth are. What we assess:
Bone volume. Implants need enough bone to anchor into. If you’ve been missing a tooth for years, some loss is normal — grafting often solves it.
Gum health. Active periodontal disease needs treating first. We handle that here.
General health. Conditions like diabetes need to be well controlled for proper healing. Smoking affects healing too — not an automatic disqualifier, but it changes the plan.
Jaw maturity. No upper age limit. The lower limit is a fully developed jawbone, usually late teens.

The Dental Implant Process, Step by Step
1. Consultation and 3D imaging. We examine your mouth, scan to assess bone volume and plan placement, and discuss options. You leave with a written plan and cost.
2. Preparatory work, if needed. Extractions, bone grafting, or a sinus lift. Not everyone needs this.
3. Implant placement. The titanium post is placed into the jawbone in our office under local anesthetic. Most patients return to normal activity the next day.
4. Osseointegration. The implant fuses with the bone over roughly three to six months. You may wear a temporary restoration during this period.
5. Abutment and final restoration. Once fused, we attach the abutment and place your permanent crown, bridge, or denture — made in our in-house lab.
Total timeline for a straightforward single implant is typically four to eight months from consultation to final crown, most of it healing rather than appointments. Certain full-arch cases allow a temporary set of teeth the same day as placement.

How long do dental implants last?
The post is designed to be permanent and often lasts decades with good oral hygiene. The crown on top typically needs replacement after 10–15 years, like any other crown.
Does getting an implant hurt?
Placement is done under local anesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure. Most patients describe recovery as more comfortable than an extraction and manage it with over-the-counter pain relief.
Does dental insurance cover implants?
